S2 Sky Academy Trip

In December a group of S2 Pupils enjoyed a trip to Sky Academy Skills Studio in Livingstone. Pupils were split into 4 groups to produce a news report on Celebrity Culture. Each group had a separate studio to work in with the latest TV equipment.

European Day of Languages

The Modern Languages Department have been encouraging us to become more sophisticated and cosmopolitan over the past term: on 26th September they hosted a European Day of Languages in the school.

Lessons from Auschwitz Programme:

Once again, St. Stephen’s were lucky enough to win two places for our S6 pupils on the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Lessons from Auschwitz programme. This year, Sophie McCahill and Lauren Brown represented the school on the programme, which involved attending two seminars in Glasgow and visiting the Auschwitz-Birkenau camps in Poland. As part of their ambassadorial role, the girls will make a presentation to all year group assemblies during Holocaust Memorial Week in January.

Inverclyde District Sports Hall Athletics Competition

S1 and S2 pupils have recently attended a competition hosted at Lady Octavia sports centre. The competition involved the Inverclyde secondary schools competing over eight events, including two sprints, four jumps, one throw and two relays.

Geobus

On 2 November, St Andrew’s University’s Geobus visited the school. All S3 pupils participated in a number of fun, hands-on activities based around learning about volcanoes and earthquakes. Pupil feedback was very positive, with many saying that they found it enjoyable and interesting.

Christmas Food Parcels

As is traditional in St. Stephen’s at this time of year, Mr Keir has organised the collection and distribution of a number of Christmas food parcels for those in need in our community.
